We consider BEYOND01 sensor system as a fundamentally new platform to measure human movement. Because the technology is still at an early stage, we're looking for research partners to work together shaping it into a more mature and powerful motion-analysis platform.
We provide the hardware sensors, the cloud-based data processing pipeline, and hands-on technical support — at no cost, for the full duration of the pilot.
Outer Motion provides the sensor system and standard processed outputs. The research group is responsible for the study design, data collection, reference measurements, further analysis, and scientific interpretation.
The pilot is intended for focused feasibility, validation, or exploratory studies rather than large-scale or longitudinal data collection. Because we have a limited number of systems and a small technical team, we need to prioritise projects that:
The three-month period covers data collection with the BEYOND01 system only. Study preparation, data processing and analysis, and scientific writing may continue beyond this window — the overall study timeline is often longer than three months.
The program is particularly suitable for pilot measurements, initial validation, protocol development, small methodological studies, and early-stage exploration of new use cases.
Larger or longer studies may be more suitable for equipment purchase, grant-supported research, or a separately defined collaboration.

Our pricing is comparatively affordable for commercial companies, so we would like to focus our free-pilot support on nonprofit research groups.
Commercial organisations are not eligible for the free pilot program, but they are welcome to contact us to discuss compensated pilot or collaboration options.
The equipment remains the property of Outer Motion. A replacement value will be stated in the equipment-loan agreement and may be charged if the system is lost, not returned, or seriously damaged.
Because the same systems are shared between different projects, we cannot normally extend the three-month loan period.
We do not ask applicants to complete ethical approval before applying. However, selected groups should be able to obtain the necessary approvals and prepare the study within a reasonable period before receiving the system.
We may invite shortlisted applicants for a short technical discussion before making the final selection.
The number of projects we can support is reviewed each quarter. It depends on the number of available systems, our financial capacity, and the time our team can realistically dedicate to technical support.
We would like to support as many meaningful collaborations as possible, while also making sure that each selected project receives sufficient attention.
Research groups remain responsible for the scientific design, analysis, interpretation, and conclusions of their studies. Results may be published, including findings that identify limitations of the system.
Before publication, Outer Motion asks for an opportunity to review manuscripts, abstracts, posters, theses, and other public research materials. This review is limited to:
Outer Motion will not influence scientifically supported results or conclusions.
The research group retains ownership of the research data it generates. Relevant non-confidential data may be shared with Outer Motion where this is permitted by participant consent, institutional policy, ethical approval, and applicable data-protection requirements.
Pre-existing intellectual property remains with its original owner. The treatment of project-generated methods, software, or system improvements will be defined in the collaboration agreement. Research results remain publishable, while agreed co-developed system improvements may be licensed to Outer Motion for continued use and development.
At the end of the three-month period, the hardware must be returned. Existing recordings and generated outputs will remain available on the Outer Motion platform for 12 months, allowing the research group to continue its analysis and download the results.
The pilot should not replace a larger formal study that requires longer access, more participants, or a larger data-collection program. Promising projects may continue through:
Participation in the pilot does not create any obligation to purchase the system.
The number of free pilot places is limited, and we may not be able to support every suitable proposal. Where possible, we are still happy to discuss promising study ideas, provide feedback on technical feasibility, and support the preparation of research or grant proposals involving BEYOND01.
